Series 3d R4 Background: Federal Hotels Ltd began in Victoria in 1885 and is the world’s third oldest hotel group. The expansion of the company began in 1969 under the leadership of Greg Farrell Snr, when he purchased the Wrest Point Riviera Hotel on Hobart’s River Derwent. The plan was for Wrest Point Riviera Hotel to become Australia’s first legal casino and this occurred with the opening of Wrest Point Hotel Casino in 1973. The Group now also includes such landmark locations as, The Henry Jones Art Hotel, Saffire Country Club, the Vantage Hotel Group, as well as sites in North of Tasmania, including, the West Coast Wilderness Railway which is the rebuilt Mount Lyell Mining and Railway Company railway line and the Freycinet Lodge and the Cradle Mountain Chateau.
